Taxi’s are another common tool people utilise when exiting the festival after the event. They are located out of the main gate by the bus pick up location. While getting in a taxi can be very convenient its important to note these key factors to ensure you aren’t putting yourself in a compromising situation.
- Before entering the vehicle, check the license plate number, make and model of the vehicle matches the information on your app. All small passenger drivers are required to have their ID card prominently on display. Check the driver's Passenger Endorsement/ID card is clearly on display, and matches the name of the driver on your app.
Taxi’s and independent operators:
- Agree on means of charging before your ride starts. If there’s no meter in the vehicle, agree on a fare before you start your ride. If you think your fare was too high, you can make a claim to the dispute’s tribunal.
- Taxi drivers don’t need to operate under an operator, if they have the right licence and endorsement, they can pick up passengers. If you hail a taxi, or get into a vehicle in a taxi rank, note the number plate and driver ID so that you have their details later if you need them.
Passengers should contact the NZ Police on 111 straight away if they experience serious improper behaviour from a taxi or rideshare driver.
